Preschool is Cool: Counting with Elmo is currently available for purchase.  The newest DVD is produced by Warner Home Video and Sesame Workshop, the nonprofit educational organization behind Sesame Street.

Elmo and his pals help make preschool and learning numbers cool in this engaging new DVD that’s filled with loads of counting fun.With Professor Grover as the teacher and Elmo as the helper today’s counting lessons are sure to be fun.  Silly Professor Grover starts to have trouble remembering what each number is.  Will Elmo and the class be able to help?  You can “count” on having a lot of fun with Elmo and Grover in a real preschool.

Our thoughts: Really, we haven’t met an Elmo movie we haven’t liked.  My girls were very interested in numbers after watching this DVD and pointed out numbers on the clocks and in books.  They didn’t sit through the entire movie but they enjoyed what they saw.

    We homeschool so we didn’t send our kids to “preschool,” however we start some at-home schooling with them around the age of 3-4, depending on the child. With my son, we waited until he was 4, with my daughter we started at 3.5.

    My oldest started school at 5 when she went to Kindergarten, my 2nd child went to a year of preK before Kindergarten so he was 4. My 3rd child will probably start with a couple of days of PreK next year when he’s 3…. at this rate, the Caboose (6 months old) will be in school when he’s still in diapers! 🙂

    My daughter is 2, so she’s not attending either yet. I myself started Kindergarten when I was 5. I don’t plan on putting her in preschool, so I suppose she’ll start K when she’s 5 also.

    I have always homeschooled until 2nd or 3rd grade…until this year. I sent my daughter to kindergarten for the first time. Otherwise I start as early as 3 here at home with actual curriculums of some sort.

    My kiddos have started school at home and are loving it. We school as they are interested — in those early,early years — by reading, drawing, answering millions (!) of questions and living life with them. Usually they are ready for books at 6 mo!
