At the beginning of the year I made a goal to visit the food bank once per month with at least 10 items to donate per trip. I didn’t document my January shopping trip (oops), spent $1.31 out of pocket for 10 items in February, and purchased 19 items for better than free at Publix during March.
With Easter approaching at a rapid pace I needed to take my donation to the Food Bank before the holiday was here. For the month of April I donated 30 Snickers Eggs and 2 bottles of Sweet Baby Rays. The Snickers eggs were on sale for $0.50/each. I used the $1/2 coupons on them, which made their final cost be FREE! I also had FREE product coupons fo the Sweet Baby Rays (I recommend contacting them and telling them how much you love their products….wink wink). I needed a few fillers to reach the $30 mark at Publix so I could use my $5/$30 coupon so it was the perfect opportunity to buy them.

For the past three months I have spent $1.31 (not including sales tax) on 61 items to donate to the Food Bank. I really wish I had kept better records in January so I had the true numbers. Nonetheless, I am very happy with those stats!

I was able to give extra stock pile items to a family in my neighborhood and another family in my circle of friends who I knew had needs at this time. It was a blessing to know I could directly bless those people in my life and take a little bit off their shoulders.
I am working over the next few months to get a good stockpile of items to take to our local food bank. There was a time once right after my divorce when I as in a very bad situation financially and I actually had to go and ask for help. I promised I would take food every few months once I was able and I’ve done good so far but it’s about time for me to donate again!
